Vienna-based startup Holloid, an alumnus of INiTS‘ SCALEup Incubation Program, has secured the prestigious EIC Accelerator grant as one of only two Austrian companies to achieve this distinction.
Founded in 2022 as a BOKU University spin-off, Holloid is revolutionizing real-time monitoring in the food, pharma, and chemical industries through their innovative AI-powered holographic microscopy system. Their breakthrough technology, the Revolutionary OnLine Fermentation Monitoring (ROLF) project, bridges critical gaps in bioprocess monitoring.
The company’s groundbreaking solution delivers impressive results: up to 100x better land use, 100,000x higher protein production efficiency, and 20x more efficient vitamin production, while reducing costs by 30%. This technology is particularly vital for precision fermentation and microalgae cultivation, enabling more sustainable and efficient food production methods.
Holloid’s success in securing the EIC Accelerator grant came after a rigorous evaluation process, requiring perfect scores from evaluators and a successful presentation to an international jury in Brussels. The company stood out with its impressive track record of paying beta customers and innovative technology that promises to transform value chains across multiple industries.
The startup continues to grow and is currently hiring, building on their mission to revolutionize bioprocess monitoring and create more sustainable industry solutions.
